The most common form of Biscotti is an Italian twice-baked almond cookie, which means that they are baked as a slab first, and once they're sliced, it's baked again. It was initially crafted as a durable food item for soldiers or travellers, and it eventually evolved into a multitude of flavours to ultimately take the form of the snack we all love. The crumbly texture, the sweet kick, and a delightful crunch make it a sought-after snack.

So primarily, biscotti isn't gluten-free or vegan, with some recipes using two or more eggs for preparation. But does this mean vegetarians, vegans, and people following a dedicated diet scheme can't enjoy a biscotti? Beat the heat this summer with these snack ideas that ensure you remain as cool as a cucumber-

  1. Biscotti Melon Bites- Chop watermelon or cantaloupe melon, get a pack of biscotti, alternate between each bite and enjoy! The juicy melon cooling your body pairs delightfully with the berrylicious crunch of the biscotti.

  2. Iced Coffee Biscotti Dunkers- Brew strong cold-brew coffee over ice, add a splash of milk or plant-milk, and serve with biscotti on the side for dunking. Optionally dust the biscotti with a pinch of cinnamon. The ultimate chill snack with maximum flavour infusion.

  3. Biscotti-Infused Agua Fresca- Prepare a slushed orange-mint agua fresca. Serve in a glass with a biscotti at the rim for dunking. One may not be enough, so keep a pack handy! The biscotti becomes a fun 'stirrer' that eventually crumbles into the drink for that additional flavour.
